The rugged Coastal Mountains with fjords reaching deep into the mainland and a maze of islands typify Canada’s west coast. Ancient forests with giant trees, the rich variety of marine life all wait to be explored. A great way to experience this Pacific coastal wonderland is on one our adventure tours in British Columbia and on Vancouver Island. You get close to nature on a camping tour and with the smaller groups the daily programs are more flexible. No matter if tours include hotels or campgrounds, hiking is a big part of the itineraries and we have selected some of the most rewarding trails and destinations in BC and on Vancouver Island.
Vancouver Island
At 460 kilometers in length, Vancouver Island is almost as long as Ireland. Vancouver Island is 65 km (40 mi) at its narrowest and 97 km (60 mi) at its widest points with a total area of 31,284 sqkm (12,087 square miles). The Island also boasts 3,440 km (2137 miles) of pristine coastline. A large mountain spine runs almost the entire length of the Island and breaks up into long mountain fjords along its West Coast. Strathcona Provincial Park, located in the center of the Island offers beautiful campgrounds and a large choice of hiking trails. An attractive playground for our hiking and camping tours.

Vancouver Island has the warmest climate in Canada with winter temperatures rarely falling below zero and summer temperatures averaging 25° C ( 77° F). The overall summer climate on Vancouver Island is often compared to the summers in the Mediterranean region. The magnificent Pacific Rim National Park provides protection for substantial rain forests and an amazing marine environment. The full force of the mighty Pacific Ocean mercilessly pounds the constantly changing shores of this rugged coastline.
